WELCOME !

It gives me great joy to welcome you to the Mount Barker Carols and Fireworks evening for 2024, presented by the Christian churches of Mount Barker. This event has been running for over two decades and marks the beginning of the Christmas season.

Christmas means different things to different people. For some it is to share rare time with family and friends, to repeat family traditions, to reflect on memories of the past, and/or to create new memories. For others, Christmas is a time to stop and reflect on the birth of the most influential child in all of history. A child promised by God through the Scriptures. A child sent to bring great joy, hope, love, and peace to the world. A child whose name is Jesus, also known as Immanuel (which means “God with us”). A child who had one job – to grow and become the one who would show the world just how real and relevant God’s love is.

As you enjoy tonight’s proceedings, I pray the carols, the atmosphere and the Messages of Hope cause you to reflect on what Christmas can really mean to you.

Of course, an event like this doesn’t just happen! It is only through the faithful and significant efforts of our carols committee, volunteers, musicians, and artists, combined with the generous support of sponsors, local businesses, churches, and Mt Barker District Council that this event is made possible. We thank them, and we especially thank you – members of the community – for joining us in making these celebrations what they are tonight.

On behalf of the Mount Barker Region Ministers Fellowship, and all the churches represented, I wish you a Merry Christmas, and a blessed New Year. May you and your family know God’s love this Christmas and throughout the year ahead.

Pastor Greg Page
Chairperson and Secretary of the Mount Barker Region Ministers Fellowship,
representing the combined Christian churches of Mount Barker.
